4Does the job. Documentation needs help.  Feb 26, 2010
Ordered the grip based on these reviews. Received it very quickly.

Tried to read the documentation and then started guessing what to do. Finally figured it out.

A remote came with it, and the doc made a reference to it, but no explanation. Tried several guesses but gave up and wrote to their support asking for instructions. Shortly after that they emailed that they were sending a replacement! Replacement arrived in a reasonable amount of time, installed new grip and voila, the remote worked!

I am pleased with the grip, the time lapse photography and the remote. The control buttons cannot be operated by fingers, but any pointy thing works. Sure wish they'd do something about the documentation.

LCD Timer Vertical Battery Grip for Nikon D80 and D90

This grip by Satechi is amazing. The quality, fit and finish are top notch and everything works as expected. I love that I can double my shooting time, and have the ability to use AA batteries in a pinch. The documentation that comes with the grip is a little had to understand, but I was able to figure out the major functions on my own pretty easily. It took me about 3 tries to figure out exactly how the time lapse shooting feature works. The grip fits my D80 like a glove, and I really don't think you can find a better piece of equipment for your D80 or D90 anywhere near this price.

5I Never Leave Home Without it  Jan 24, 2010
The title pretty much says it all. Once I put it on the camera, it's never been off. It's slightly larger than the Nikon unit which works for me, I have large hands. All the controls are the same as the Nikon grip - Shutter Release w/half step - AF lock - Command and sub command dial - with the addition of it's own IR remote that has better range than the Nikon IR remote. And it has an intervalometer that the Nikon unit doesn't have for a lot less money. The intervalometer will allow you to do time lapse photography very easily. All this and a clock too. Satechi even emailed me to check on the product and how I liked it. Nice customer service. The problem I have had with the unit, is the latch for the battery door, it's easy to unlock it. The batteries will not fall out, they are latched in. But it is not enough of a problem for me to lower my score of five stars. The instructions for setting up the intervalometer are horrible, but it can be done. It also makes the D90 balance better with some of my bigger glass. If you shoot much vertical, you will want this grip. I recommend it.

4frist lcd timer battery grip for my nikon d80  Dec 26, 2009
I purchased my first battery grip November 2009,the lcd battery grip was different from any other battery grip that I had ever bought (Nikon,Canon,Olympia etc.) The lcd timer vertical battery grip for nikon D80 and D90 is a great product for the D80 and D90.When the monitor light up,it's a deep turquoise blue and it make the camera look expensive and unique. The professional control functions are simple and easy to understand.(1.subsection time record, 2.display 3 shooting number settings 4.shooting number and time display 5. time-laspe setting 6.Shutter released time setting 7. 0-12 Hour display 8. 13-24 Hour display 9. Hour setting and 10. Minute setting).Overall, I give this product 4 out of 5 stars rating. The feel of the grip is a hard plastic that I had to get use to but overall, I would recommend this product to anyone. From the time that I ordered this product,I received it in 3 days.I think that this is a great product for the price. The hand grip on the D80 or D90 make
the camera appear like a nikon d3 that is $4.500 to $5,000 camera. from strong8821@sbcglobal.net

Received this Battery grip as a Christmas present. First thing I noticed was the documentation was flimsy and sketchy. Just setting the time, all the steps were not included in the instructions. You have to be intuitive. Some controls are not mentioned at all, and you have to experiment to discover how to use them. A wheel on the right hand side, I haven't found a use for yet! Maybe it does nothing and there for intertainment only. Unit was lighter than expected, but if it were as heavy as I had originally thought, it would make the camera package much to clumbersom to use. Overall, I'm happy.
