ok this thing is veery solid, and works almost perfectly. ill make this painless on you, so ill just list the pros and cons:
PROS:
Sturdy
Top Quality
secure to camera
LCD timer works good
CONS:
timers and other functions are hard to program and operate
the lcd runs on a watch battery (expensive to replace)
not waterproof
not shock resistant
remote DOES NOT work outside due to infared interference from sun
remote only works in line of sight
buttons are small/set in the grip and hard to press and find without looking (IMPORTANT)
Bottom Line:
get the cannon one and buy some poketwizards for remote function
btw: they have a 1600 ft range in all environments!!

This grip is very well designed with a nice LCD screen integrated makes it more professional in a sense. The LCD screen basically shows date/time and other functional settings and it doesn't drain the D80 batteries at all. It is equipped with a vertical-grip shutter button as seen, AE lock/FE lock button, main and sub-command dials to enable shooting in the same fashion as a horizontal grip. It also has the functions of exposure control: long exposure time setting, long intermittent exposure time setting etc.
More importantly, the grip is very light weight which is a good thing considering shooting all day long when traveling with bunch of heavy lens. Surprisingly, it also comes with a remote control!! I meant what else you can get for such a price. I just cannot wait to buy this when I first saw this grip, and now I am very happy with it.
