4Sansa 8 gig - bloody well alright actually  Aug 30, 2010
This is a pretty nifty bit of kit for the price. I've had it several months now and while the tranfer of songs to the device is a bit clumsy at first, it all works rather well like any new system once you get used to it.

With 8 gigs of memory you'll never run out of space to store simple MP3 songs. I use it every morning while working out for about an hour and the battery will last more than a week.

I'd recommend it, and buying one of the rubber cases to protect it from shock. The screens always get a little messy from finger prints but that's not a big deal when i'm not looking at it half the time. The sound quality is pretty good, good enough for listening at the gym anyway, and it doesn't get in the way when i'm doing cardio or weights.

I like the interface, the battery life is good and the price was excellent. So far trouble free and it replaced my aging creative zen nano which had only a gig of memory and after 4 years of brutal treatment conked out. Love this Sansa product. If it lasts 4 years too, i'll be more than happy.

5its good  Aug 29, 2010
It works great, highly recomend it. very easy and convinet set up. I like how you can change the usb mode for newer and older computers. Im very happy with it.

5Best "Bang For The Buck" MP3 Player!!!  Aug 22, 2010
The SanDisk Sansa Fuze MP3 Player is an absolutely great MP3 Player. FORGET about buying an Ipod, for the budget minded, THIS is what you want. No doubt, this player can dish out hours of nonstop playing without charging. I can't even remember the last time I charged it. I truly believe you can go at least 24 hours on it before charging. I drive about 1.5 hours of travel time a day. So, this puppy gets some play time! I use a Sony cassette adapter in my "old" 2000 Pontiac Bonneville. Back in the day, when cassette players were still around and unfortunately, still standard. At least in GM's eyes. But, as time and technology progressed, the ease, use, and affordability of MP3 players became the "norm". Even most aftermarket car receivers have MP3 player capabilities now. So, for around $75, I got a nice 8gb MP3 Player hooked into the car's cassette deck. It's like "old" meets "new" with car audio. As far as function goes, it's pretty straight forward. You don't need the directions, that's how simple it is to operate.

First thing you need to do when you receive the player is charge it through your PC via a USB port. Yes, it uses a "proprietary" cable, but so what? There's plenty of accessories for the Sansa Fuse now. You can buy a wall outlet charger adapter for these now. Personally, I think these cables are better than the "mini" USB cables. At least in durability. The construction of the player is solid. This is my second SanDisk Sansa Fuze player, and I have yet to have any major problem or failure. I have had 1 minor issue with my "older" Sansa. It froze up once or twice. But once I shut it down and turned it back on, it was fine. The best feature on this player is that you don't need any software to use it with your PC AND you can just unplug it once your done loading songs/videos on it. You never have to use the "safely remove hardware" icon with these. The transfer time to upload songs on it is pretty fast. Another great feature is that it supports virtually all audio formats, even FLAC! However, I would stick with MP3 format for all your songs on this. FLAC is great(the best quality vs. size ratio), but you are going to fill up your MP3 player fast! I would use 192-224Kbps for space reasons. That way, you get really decent sound quality and plenty of space to load tons of songs on it.

All in all, this player works great. Solid, durable, quick file transfer, ease of use, and the best part, VERY affordable. Even the ear buds that are included sound good! The only flaw that I see with this is the thumb wheel. You have to navigate through the MP3 player with the thumb wheel. It's not really a "flaw" per say, but for the picky people, it could be an inconvenience. Other than that, I think this player is the best value. Another great feature I just remembered is the "micro sd" mini card slot. You can add "gbs" in seconds just by adding a memory card into the side of the player. SanDisk has definitely put some time into these players to make it a quality MP3 player with all the basic functions, yet keep it at a good price.

2HORRIBLE BATTERY!  Aug 06, 2010
I loved this device when y fiance got it for me for my birthday in March of 2009. Now, just a little over a year ownign it, the batter lasts a maximum of 2 - 3 hours, that's it. The Sansa website claims up to 24 hours of continuous play time on a full charge, this is simply not true, I NEVER got that.

I contacted their support about the battery issue and they had me try some BS troubleshooting. "Plug it into a computer running Windows XP or later and Windows Media Player 10 or later and let it charge for 3 - 4 hours to completely charge" is what they told me. Why does it matter what OS I'm running, and Windows Media player has NOTHING to do with battery chage. When that didn't work they said that I had a "unique case" and that they couldn't help me any more since it was out of warranty (1 year warranty). What crap, I'll just swallow my pride and buy an iPod.

4I Absolutely Love This Thing...  Aug 03, 2010
I absolutely love this thing. It puts out a higher quality of sound running it through my auxiliary input of my 6 speaker factory radio, than the built in CD player with the radio. Figure that one out, it is running through the radio amp and speakers, and the highs are crisper, noticeably so. Anyhow this thing is great. I don't like the iPod mind control game, wanting to take over your machine. I much prefer the privacy of the Sansa. It holds an incredible amount of music. Pick up the SanDisk 16GB MicroSDHC Memory Card with Adapter + SanDisk MicroSDHC to MiniSDHC Adapter + USB2.0 High Speed Card Reader or at least the 8 GB barebones deal to expand your capacity.

I use this while working in the yard, inputting as I mentioned into the car stereo via aux jack, I use it just about everywhere I want to. I highly recommend a pair of Sennheiser HD 202 Intense Stereo Headphones they have a great sound, and after comparing them to a comparably priced set of Yamaha cans, the Yamahas went back to the store, even though I could only get a store credit for them. For the money the Senheisers can't be beat.

I also recommend the Sansa aftermarket accessory package. At the time I bought it, it was only a couple of dollars and included a lot of neat accessories. I would include the link but the package I saw was three times that price, so do some searching here at Amazon for the same one. I would do so but I know things change from different sources, so it is better to shop fresh.

At first I was a little disappointed in that the silver did not look like the picture. I don't want to refer to it as muddy gray because it is better than that, but leaning in that direction next to the mfrs. photo. After I got adjusted to it, I really like it; it matches the Trans selector knob top in the car. (I would say stick shift, but it is an automatic)

The mind blowing thing is the size of this thing, and putting out such a great sound, let alone the incredible capacity. Now onto the reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I had a little problem with the player in that it would take a long time to be recognized by Windows Vista, which the manufacturer states that no additional downloads are necessary in a Vista environment. Then once it was recognized, when I went to copy and paste music files into the folder, it would not be recognized again. I also experienced a white out on the screen, which I found happened only occasionally when hooking up to the computer, and could be easily corrected by pressing the on button for about 30 seconds.

Fortunately Amazon is incredible, and I put in for a return/replacement, and they will be getting a new one out to me, and as long as I don't get it back to them over 30 days from now, they won't even charge my card for the second one. That's customer service. That way I can still enjoy playing the songs that are already in there in the interim.

Music makes life grand. No matter what work has to be done, music takes you to a better place, and suddenly it doesn't seem like work at all. I couldn't imagine what it would be like having to go through life without my Sansa Fuze. I don't need it often, but when I do it is worth its weight in gold. My iPod shuffle doesn't hold a candle to it, and sells for the same price without a screen, playlists, and too many other things worth mentioning. I could chose a more expensive iPod player at three times the price, but why bother. By the way I understand these Sansa players originally sold for better than twice this price. Grab one, you can always return it, but after using it you too will agree it is a keeper.
