Sansa 2 Gb - Mp3 Player Aug 18, 2008 I bought this product because I wanted a player with more memory space because my 1Gb was filled. I also purchased this type of player because I was not interested in viewing videos or photos (like an I-pod). The other appealing thing is that this unit is powered by an easily attainable AAA battery. I did not want a player powered by the lithium built-in battery because I don't always have a means of re-charging this type of battery. I did not want the unit to be drained while on a camping trip or similar outing, b/c I would not have a computer available to plug a USB into. I realize this type of MP3 player is not produced in quantities due to the migration to I-Pods but I hope they continue to make these and even expand with more memory. AAA is the way.
The player has a good quality sound, but the menu operation takes a bit getting used to. It is a good player for the price though.

Great for the city bus Aug 17, 2008 If you're a person who likes to watch video clips on tiny screens or sniff at people unhip enough to buy anything without Steve Jobs's fingerprints on it, then this little player might not be for you.
If you, like me, want a reliable and battery-friendly mp3 player for those afternoons when you're too tired to read on the bus or to plug into an FM car adapter when you don't want to listen to what the radio has to cough up, then this unit does just fine. I've had mine over a month now, and I've used it to listen to all sorts of podcasts. The 2GB flash storage is enough to last a good week of commuting, the display is helpful enough, the controls are simple, and perhaps best of all, the unit is compatible with Amarok for Linux. For less than thirty bucks, I'm really quite pleased.

NOT USEFUL for TALKING AUDIO with Multiple Folders - Get CREATIVE instead Aug 17, 2008 The Sansa is NOT useful for TALKING AUDIO with Multiple Folders, especially my required Sorted Play Order.
The Sansa brand is better used as a plan MUSIC ONLY Player
* I bought the SanDisk Sansa m250 2 GB MP3 Player w FM to replace a Creative 1 GB MuVo Tx FM that had a detachable flash drive with built-in USB connector.
* My Creative cost $70 and lasted about 2 years. I was able to use it as a regular detachable flash drive for data and running programs. Apart from the easy data flash drive I liked the large number of settings that Creative had, particularly the fact that it sorted audio files by File Name and allowed me to select individual folders (copied over from my pc).
Most of my audio are lessons and I need to play or repeat folders that are sorted by mp3 TAG using file name ... like Tony Robbin's motivational material or Vernon McGee's Thru the Bible CD Set.
* I bought the Sansa thinking that I could just re-copy over my usual audio files and listen to them as before ... NOT the case. Even though it's a good size drive for the price and requires the separate USB attachment, it won't allow the access of data or programs and I CAN'T listen to my audio files in SORTED file name order unless I use the SONG selection which just plays everything on the entire drive ... If I select by Artist or Album then the play order is by Title (and it may be a different jumbled order). Sansa should COPY the Creative brand usability features!!!
* I'm going back and buying the cheaper model of the Creative MuVo MP3 Player with Detachable Flash Drive ... I can skip the FM Radio model.

Battery operated- very nice Aug 16, 2008 SanDisk Sansa m250 Product works great. I have over 300 songs on my unit and have room for more. My family has several other MP3 players. What is nice about this product is that it runs on a AAA battery. No need for charging this item. Also the battery last a good long time The size is compact enough to fits into a pocket. Easy to use.
If your not great at remembering to charge your MP3....this could be your dream MP3.
I used this product on my walks (about an hour a day). This MP3 player last just over 2 weeks on one AAA battery. About 17 hours give or take a couple hours. Can't complain.
