| | Description | The Satechi Lh-65III Lens Hood is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. One of the most important accessories for each lens you own. A lens hood provides multiple functions: it shades the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality; in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens; and it protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles. | |

Not worth the money Feb 19, 2010

Unit was out-of-round. Took some sandpaper to the inside of the mounting surface to make it fit on my 70-300 F/4.5-5.6 lens.
Plastic is very flimsy, so when pushing the release/engagement tabs the whole hood ovalized so your not able to mount on lens.
Release mechanism springs were not seated correctly, I pried off the retaining ring, re-set the springs and superglue retaining ring back on.
After all the rework by me, it works for what it was intended.
I did save money compared to getting a genuine canon hood.
