Description

Solid quality with a small price compared to 100% compatible Nikon MC-DC1. It is handy for reducing camera shake on super telephoto shots, macro-photography, and bulb exposures. Pressing the shutter button halfway enables auto-focusing; pressing the shutter button all the way down releases the shutter. Lock the button for long exposures or continuous shooting. Fully compatible to: Nikon D70s and D80

4good for the price  Sep 13, 2009
Great service, the item was sent right away and very well packaged.

This alternative to the nikon original is fully compatible with my d70s, and great value for the price. Still, if you are ok with paying a couple of extra dollars for the real nikon expect better build quality.

5Satechi iCraft - iLove it!  Sep 04, 2009
This product is perfect for office use with my iPod Touch. The remote is a great feature, it allows me to place the unit anywhere in my office and still control the volume and playlist in addition to keeping the iPod charged up so that I can take it with me to the gym after work. This is a great product.

5Adds flexibility through jack  Nov 12, 2007
The Satechi remote works as advertised. The 36 inch cable is a very convenient length for what I'm using it for primarily: macro photography.

The great thing about this remote, however, isn't even advertised: it's the additional jack it features on the side of its housing. This jack allows you to easily connect a camera (in my case a Nikon D70s) to a home-made trigger circuit. After trying a couple of plugs I found that a 3/32'' submini phone plug works perfectly (e.g. RadioShack part # 274-298).

Counting from the tip of the submini plug, let me call the connector leads 1, 2, and ground. If you connect 1 and 2, the camera (Nikon D70s) focuses. If you connect 1 and ground, the camera shutter is released. Sweet...

5Cable remote and more.  Feb 04, 2007
This cable remote for the D70s and D80 works exactly as advertised. I actually bought two because the price was so reasonable. What they fail to mention in the online description of the item is the auxiliary mini plug included on the remote, thankfully I was able to see it in the photograph of the product. This is one of the most powerful features of this cable remote. This allows another switch to be plugged into the remote unit to trigger the camera, so anyone familiar with basic electronics can easily rig up their own extention cable of any length or build a little relay timer circuit and do timelapse photography. Simple, affordable, and functional best describes this product.
