It's not that complicated :-) I got this for my SP-550UZ, it plugs in to the usb port, and for the occasional self-portrait it works fine. The cord is the thickness of typical USB cables - so it doesn't feel flimsy, but is also kind of bulky (the cord takes up more space than the switch, so if you're stuffing it in a small camera bag, the 118" (which I got) might be a better choice than the 196" in that case.)

the product does what it says it does. pressing the button halfway focuses the lens and pressing all the way triggers the shutter. nice long cord. Its made of plastic and seems a bit delicate to me. I feel that if I used this item a lot , the button will break. i'd feel alot better if it were made of metal . If it were $15 less, I would buy another as backup

Mine is an Olympus SP-560UZ, cable plugs easily into the USB female connection on the camera. Cable length is sufficient at 118 inches, works just like the shutter release, half down to focus, bottom out to take a shot! Can be locked for continuous shots. Simple, and exactly what I had in mind. Great service from Satechi, shipped Priority Mail, ordered Tuesday evening, received it Thursday at 11:00 AM, and that's West to East coast. Careful though! Be certain you order the correct cable for your specific camera. There are several.

I ordered this because it was much cheaper than the Olympus one. I just got it, and have shot a couple hundred photos of squirming children. It did the trick. A nice long cord on it too!
