| | Description | Vertical Battery Grip for Nikon D300, D700 makes photographing in a vertical position much easier and provides a better handling of your camera especially when you are using heavy lenses. The battery grip provides more energy for your camera than a normal storage battery would. The battery compartment holds either two lithium batteries (original or third-party manufacturer) or a battery magazine for 8 AA NiMh batteries. | |

Pretty good grip Aug 26, 2010 I bought this grip for my d300 and its good.. but the main reason i wanted to get it was to get the remote function.. however the way the infra-red receiver is placed makes it hard to use the remote if you're sitting on one side of the picture frame. So, as long as you are in the middle of the frame or to the left of the frame (looking from the camera's view) you'll more than likely be able to activate the shutter but if you're on the right side it won't work. The reason is that the receiver is placed on the handle part of the grip and at an angle towards the inside or left side of the grip (from the camera's view).. It would have avoided this problem if it were simply placed right at the tip of the grip handle.
Otherwise its not that bad. You can only place 1 battery inside the grip. It functions good and makes the camera look more professional/expensive. It's a little harder to fit into the same bag but that's expected. I do find myself going back to the original remote i had that uses the cable and a RF remote .. but it works from any angle even behind my back while in the picture.

External Battery D300/D300s/D700 Feb 20, 2010 I have an MB-D10 and with the high powered EN-EL4A battery it does a good job.
I recently replaced it with an aftermarket external battery holder which also comes with an infrared remote control. I always keep the GPS on my hot shoe and plugged it, so being able to use a wireless remote control with the camera is a real advantage. Like back in the bad old days with the D80 and the D40.
This particular battery holder is sold by Satechi. It is a Jenis ND300P made in China. You can use AA nimh rechargeable batteries with it, or you can install two EN-EL3E batteries. So with the one already in your camera you now have three EN-EL3Es at your disposal. The instructions were translated from Chinese by an illiterate, half blind, retard so they are virtually undecipherable; but like with a digital watch you just play with it a while and you work it out.
This set up is really very cheap when compared to an MB-D10, an EN-EL4A battery, and the battery charger. I recommend it highly.

Great Value Apr 02, 2009 I got this grip from Satechi for use with my D300. I usually prefer to stick to Nikon-made accessories (with the exception of some lenses) for my cameras, but took the leap on this little item and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. It holds 2 EnEL batteries (same as the one used by the camera) or AAs and also permits the on-board battery to stay docked, so you have a total of three in the camera. This is more than enough for even my most snap-happy expeditions. It does make the camera a bit heavier and slightly unwieldy, but if you wanted a point-and-shoot you wouldn't have gotten the D300 in the first place. The extra LCD is not linked to the camera and isn't completely useful, but helps control the grip's functions. The unit secures very firmly to the bottom of the D300 via the tripod mount (and has a mount of its own on the bottom) and has a clever little interior compartment to store the rubber power interface cover from the bottom of the camera. Good design.
In addition, this unit comes with a battery controlled remote control, which is a real convenience. Please note that this is an IR remote, so requires line-of-sight to the front of the camera. It is sensitive enough that the person triggering the remote can be out of frame for but the most wide-angle lenses. Combine that with the fact that this package is is hundreds less than the Nikon equivalent and it's a real bargain.
The only little thing I don't like is that the unit is all-plastic (in comparison to the D300's magnesium body), so it doesn't feel quite as robust as the camera itself, but for this price, that's a tiny quibble. All in all highly recommended.

LCD Timer D300 Remote Control Jan 01, 2009 The instructions that accommpanied the D300 remote control unit are very difficult to read, consequently we are not proficient in it's utilization.
