| | Description | Ever since the X-Mini Capsule Speaker appeared in 2008, we have been completely blown away by the absolutely astounding sound quality and volume that these little gems produce! The X-Mini Capsule Speaker regularly stops customers in their tracks at our retail store, people cannot believe that what they are hearing is eminating from these handy pocket sized units.
So when we heard that XMI the company responsible for the X-Mini, was launching a new version, we were suitably excited!
We are very glad to report that the X-Mini II doesn't disappoint, again the boffins have succeeded in getting a Quart out of a Pint pot!
Retaining all of the best features from the groundbreaking first generation unit, the second generation comes with a number of innovations that combine to create a greater audio experience for the user.
Larger Driver.
The first and most recognisable difference with the X-Mini II is that it's slighly larger than the original model. The X-Mini II now boasts a 40mm driver, that delivers an even richer and fuller sound.
Longer Battery Life.
The X-Mini II now boasts an improved battery life, a staggering 11 hours of continuous playback from just one charge.
"Buddy Jack" Design.
A brand new feature to the X-Mini II is the "Buddy Jack" system. This allows you to connect one X-Mini II to another and another and... well, you get the picture. Capable of forming a near endless "Daisy Chain". Combine your X-Mini II with your friend's for quite simply jaw dropping audio!
Built In 3.5mm Audio Connection.
The refinement of the original X-Mini continues with the inclusion of an inbuilt 3.5mm audio connection cable. No more running the risk of forgetting to pack the charging/connection lead when you leave... the connection cable is always in reach. The audio cable neatly slips away underneath the speaker when not in use.

Great for Office and Travel Mar 10, 2010 Am getting so much more use from Ipod with this speaker. Has been perfect for office usage and will be great for travel. It makes people stop and see what device could be producing the music they are hearing. Definitely met and exceeded my expectations for something in this price range.
I for my Grandson Mar 08, 2010 I purchased this as a birthday gift for my 11 yr old Grandson he said that he likes it as well as his sister and his Mother.
I have not heard it but an looking forward to that experience when I visit, I may buy one for my Granddaughter and myself after I have my turn at hearing the quality it produces.
Cool gadget but poor sound Feb 27, 2010 I really wanted to like this little speaker but the sound frankly sucks!! I compared it to my $10.00 Altec Lansing iM207 it was like night and day. Frankly if you could combine the features of the Xmini II with the clarity in sound from the Altec, you would have the PERFECT DEVICE!!!!! Altec....take notes!
I know that altec has a rechargeable speaker but its USB designed for notebooks.
Anyway, I will most likely return this little speaker and just hang on to my iM207.
X Mini II Feb 26, 2010
Everyone that I show it to wants one. It is a great little speaker for the price and can go anywhere. The only thing that I might change is that the wire which goes into the Ipod is very short, so if you pick up your Ipod/MP3 player, the speaker upsets. Still, not a big deal. Too bad that I purchased this right before the newer version with two speakers was released.
SpeakerSpheres Feb 26, 2010 I have been using a pair of x-mini II capsule speakers for about 4 weeks and am pretty impressed. First, readers need to understand that I am a retired physicist and nuclear engineer so my eval criteria are rooted in physics limitations as well as satisfaction.
This speaker, as dictated by laws of the universe cannot replicate a huge woofer-tweeter-midrange combo. That said however, it gives performance that is really amazing for its size. When I sit between a pair and listen to classical music, the sense of three dimension sound is really gratifying from so small a device. Additionally, the battery life is dumbfounding. I have inadvertantly left them on for 24 hour periods and only after about a week of doing this a few times have I needed to recharge them. Finally, their size is so perfect for my small den and laptop computer situation. I must be very down-sized because of the premium on space so I also invested in a satellite radio for which these speakers are my sound system. Both occupy the back four inches of my 20x40-inch desk and I have room to spare....and they are more attractive but understated than standard square boxes.
The last accolade comes from my wife. Her reaction was "They're so CUTE!!!"
