FAQ

Unfortunately not. As it turns out, the USB SuperDrive requires a significant amount of power in order for the drive to be powered and read the disk that has been inserted. When connecting our adapters to your computer, there is a slight power diminishment, having that our adapters are also BUS powered.

When connecting the SuperDrive to our adapter, this will cause for too much power to be required from the USB-C port on your MacBook and will result in a message appearing on your computer stating "USB Devices Disabled: Unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB devices." Below I have attached an image and link directly from the Apple website further explaining this message.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204377

In order to directly connect the SuperDrive to your computer via USB-C, we highly recommend our USB-C to USB 3.0 Adapter Cable: (https://satechi.net/products/usb-c-to-usb-3-0-adapter-cable?variant=32976105439320). This will transfer all the required power from the computer for the drive to function.

Unfortunately not as the USB-C port on this hub will only support passthrough charging (up to 85W) and will not support data transfer, video or powering up another peripheral.

Yes, while this hub was primarily designed for macOS and iPadOS it will also work with most PC's running windows. Please ensure that the USB-C port on your Windows device supports "USB 3.1 gen 1 or 2" for full functionality.

The USB 3.0 ports were designed and recommended for data transfer, however you will still be able to charge your iPhone, but at a slightly slower rate. (each port will support up to 5W and data transfer speeds of up to 5 Gbps)

You will not be able to use the USB-C port on this hub for data transfer as it will only support passthrough charging. (supports up to 85W passthrough charging with a 100W power adapter and proper e-mark cable)

    Should've Started Here

I purchased adapters from a large online shopping site that starts with A only to find they wouldn't support MacOS (even though their write ups said they did) or I had to download a driver that didn't work. I'm glad I found this adapter at Satechi--although I had to download a driver, it was painless and this works great. Even though it has more features than what I needed, I consider it money well spent. I'm using it on a 2018 MacBook Air.

Awesome, I am running two external monitors. Problem solved. Although it does get pretty hot/warm to the touch, I haven’t had any issues and it’s almost been a yr now.

siguiendo las instrucciones y conectandolo funciona perfectamente. Tener en cuenta que la segunda pantalla va a 30Hrz pero suficiente para trabajar
